Peer Review Guidelines

Peer Review Guidelines

Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Rheumatology and Orthopedics uses a single-blind peer-review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts for originality, methodology, and relevance. Reviewers remain anonymous to authors.

Review Process

  • Manuscripts are initially screened by the editorial office for compliance with journal policies and scope.
  • Eligible submissions are assigned to an Editor who invites qualified reviewers.
  • Reviewers assess the manuscript and provide constructive comments and recommendations.
  • The Editor decides to accept, request revision or reject the manuscript based on reviewers’ reports.

Criteria for Reviewing

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Scientific and methodological quality.
  • Clarity of presentation and organization.
  • Originality and importance of the findings.

Key Points for Reviewers

  • Maintain confidentiality and do not share manuscripts or discuss them outside the review process.
  • Provide objective, constructive feedback.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest to the Editor.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.

Types of Articles

The journal publishes research articles, reviews, short communications, case reports and clinical studies. Reviewers should consider the type of article when assessing appropriateness and impact.

Review Transfer

If a manuscript does not meet the journal’s criteria but may be suitable for another Herbert Publications journal, with the author’s permission, reviewer reports may be transferred to facilitate a faster decision.
