Editorial Policies

Our editorial policies are designed to ensure the quality, integrity and fairness of the review process and the published record. Members of the editorial board are expected to uphold the highest standards of scientific ethics and to act in the best interests of authors and readers.

General guidelines for editorial board members

  • Provide expert peer–review and constructive feedback on manuscripts within the agreed time frame.
  • Serve as ambassadors for the journal by promoting submissions and readership.
  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted work and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Make recommendations based on scientific merit and originality without bias.
  • Help uphold publication ethics and report any concerns about plagiarism or misconduct.

Roles and responsibilities

Editor‑in‑Chief

  • Provides overall leadership and sets editorial policies and strategic direction.
  • Oversees the peer–review process and final acceptance decisions.
  • Ensures that published content reflects the scope and quality standards of the journal.

Senior Editors

  • Support the Editor‑in‑Chief in managing submissions and peer review.
  • Recommend reviewers and evaluate their reports to make editorial decisions.
  • Guide topic collections and special issues in their areas of expertise.

Editorial Board Members

  • Assist with peer review by providing expert assessments of manuscripts.
  • Advise on journal strategy, scope and outreach activities.
  • Encourage submissions and serve as advocates for the journal in the scientific community.
